About Us

Grace & Peace Community Ministries is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving families in Richmond’s inner city, with a special focus on those on Raven Street, a division of Mosby Court. With programs focused on building life skills, connecting people to available community resources, and showing Christ’s love through service, we exist to empower every individual to realize their full potential.

The Community

We are currently serving 76 households on Raven St. in Mosby Court, a public housing community, helping them with education, health services, work training, and basic needs.

Raven Street, Richmond, Virginia 23223, United States

Our Programs & Impact

Grace & Peace Community Ministries has many programs focused on serving the community. All programs and services are offered to those in the community without regard to their faith or willingness to participate in religious activities. While our faith in Jesus Christ is what drives us, we meet those we serve where they are.

Single Mothers Program:

  • Provide 8 week co-parenting courses pursuing spiritual, financial, professional, and physical help through connection with local agencies
  • Lead Richmond Family Fatherhood Initiative parenting classes for single moms
  • Lead 7 week trauma and emotional healing course with "Roots Matters"

Kid's Health and Education Programs

  • School supplies drive to ensure K-12 students have needed supplies to succeed in school
  • Partnership with CHAT (Church Hill Activities and Tutoring) to help students in school and beyond

Women's Entrepreneurship:

  • Weekly small group class focused on jewelry making, sewing, and entrepreneurial skills in order to equip women to both learn craft and business skills and knowledge
  • This group of women have created, Songbird Wearable Art, a business that sells jewelry and handbags

Living Essentials and Basic Needs:

  • During times of emergency, we step into the situation to help provide basic needs such as food, winter clothing, baby formula and diapers, and other necessities

Advocacy:

  • Assist those in the community with the development of self-advocacy skills so they are equipped to ensure access and participation to all eligible programs and resources

Spiritual Development:

  • Coordinate weekly prayer meetings and bible studies
  • Facilitate retreats to Richmond Hill to experience fellowship, prayer, and a time to reflect and build deeper relations as a group
